Project Details
This project is part of the Bangladesh Covid-19 emergency response plan of the Bangladesh Government. To strengthen the oxygen therapy capacity by providing emergency procurement support and construction of the PSA plant rooms at 29 hospitals by UNOPS, funded by the Global Fund fights against Aids, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (GFATM). By implementing this project, the National Malaria Elimination Program (NMEP) aims to expand the existing oxygen generation capacity in several hospitals to make them ready for emergency requirements.
In the treatment of COVID-19-infected patients, the use of oxygen plays a major role, especially for hospitalized patients. As the pandemic situation continues, the demand for oxygen for hospitalized patients has also been increasing. To meet the ongoing demand for oxygen supply in the treatment of hospitalized COVID-19 patients, the Global Fund (GF) will support setting twenty-nine (29) pressure swing adsorption (PSA) oxygen plants in the selected facilities under the program of COVID-19 Response Mechanism (C19RM) Fast Track.
The project PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) plants include plant building, generator shed, plant installation, generator installation, and oxygen line installation. The end users are district hospital authorities and the project client is the Ministry of Health. The scope of work primarily consists of four components given below:
The PSA Plant will be installed by the PSA Plant manufacturer. A civil works contractor will execute the construction of the PSA Plant Building and Generator Shed. A medical gas/mechanical contractor will carry out the construction of oxygen piping.
